Thank you for using these lovely light sources so we don’t have to spend all our money on them to find out they’re too bright and use too much fuel! 
They’d be super useful for a watchmaker or maybe a surgeon or something, though, all things considered.
Oh, absolutely - get some reflectors going, and they’d be amazingly bright and useful for evening detail work. A lantern on each side with some light wrangling, and you’d be like modern LEDs.
But, yes. Sad though it is, I just don’t see them as being particularly useful in the modern kerosene infrastructure. Not for the cost or fiddling required.
