Surprising… in what way?
My main point is just that they still use a decent amount of energy - I’ve seen people arguing that LEDs use “orders of magnitude less energy” than incandescents online, and it’s not true. They’re better by a good margin, but honestly, lighting is a rounding error in my (all electric) home’s energy use compared to things like “Heating” and “Cooling” and “Hot Water” and “Transportation miles.”
