One design I expected to see there but didn’t was a wirtz pump or spiral pump, a water powered water pump. It’s old but also has can be built even easier with modern plumbing/irrigation supplies (one of many examples, simple and common hardware store parts), though it only applies to a certain niche of waterways, basically when there is a decent flowrate with but almost no vertical drop to use the more common rampump, sort of like the lazy river carnival ride.
