This is quite timely though a year late! I just finished fixing both my dryer and washer - the washer is a SpeedQueen laundromat front loader (complete with quarters to start it) and that thing was a dream to work on. Everything was accessible from the front and the parts were easy to replace ( my issue was the flexible rubber surround which on the speed Queen also houses the water inlet has died after 15 or so years since manufacture ). The part came with Instructions that included the tip to coat the rubber lightly in laundry soap to help slip it on along with the same wire-spring setup.
The dryer is NOT a speed Queen and that thing was not insanely difficult to work on but the obvious quality difference was apparent. The speed Queen seems to try to make everything out of metal or stainless steel - the dryer has as much plastic as the could get away with.
Highly recommend Speed Queen. I just need to get a gas line over to my laundry room so I can get the gas dryer on this double stack in place.
The thing I hate about a lot of these modern machines is the thing that does is often the control panel - and they want $300+ for a new one. Someone with more electrical skills could likely repair it. The Speed Queen has electrical boards but they’re all build like a 1980s pc - everything is huge.
