For those as may be interested in shipping and “failures of gigantic ships,” this is an interesting read so far. It’s written by a guy who’s very familiar with the oil tanker industry, having been part of it for many years, and he’s arguing that tankers are poorly built, worse regulated, and that there are a few fairly easy things that can be done to improve the safety of oil tankers (like two independent engine rooms and engines).
I’m far from well versed in nautical things, but it’s a fairly accessible read so far. Might be interesting to some people here as well!
